Help with TJ mark

Postby DEESIRE » Sat May 22, 2021 10:32 am

Hello from a newbie.
I immediately noticed a previous link had given some detailed information about the conjoined TJ mark, mine differs in that the TJ mark is the only mark on there , there are no accompanying marks. The item tests silver but I woudl be very interested to know if identification of the maker or even the country is possible
Thanks in anticipation, and heres hoping the photos work :)

Hi,
I managed to open your images; embedded, too.
The spoon of typical Russian design was made in Soviet Union by Tallinn Jewelry Factory (Tаллинский ювелирный завод in Russian).
Tallinna Juveelitehas in Estonian, therefore TJ initials.
If it is not accompanied by more marks, it is not made of silver.
See here for silver marks from the same manufacturer:

The differences between the two alloys in simple terms:
Cupronickel = copper + nickel
Nickel silver = copper + nickel + zinc
