Requesting help deciphering markings. Arabic?

Post by sdiceman »

I am stumped when it comes to deciphering the writing on the bottom of this covered dish. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Well, I butchered that first attempt at adding photos. Lets try this again.

Hi,
I believe it to (read) be metal ware مصنوعة من المعدن made in Fes فاس‎ Morocco.
If you Google; abrcation SBA you will find a little more information.

Thank you so much, Peter. I believe you are correct. I never would have guessed the “brc” letters order in “abrcation” - I think my mind was trying to place a vowel in place of the missing “r” on the bottom of the dish, which naturally resulted in zero results. Again, thank you for taking the time to investigate and reply!

I believe that the Arabic is عمل آلسبائ بفاس

I don't understand the middle word but it translates as "the work of (someone) in Fes"

FABRICATION SBA FES

Somone may be a family or shop name

Will post an update if I figure out the middle word
