Match box with extra compartment

Post by JanGroen »

Good day
Got this interesting box for while now and trying to find out some more about it. It is a small plated pewter box with 2 lids. What would its use be and when would it been made. I find no markings but it does have Dutch writing on it. STREICH ZU NU REENNT ET I think.
Any help will be helpful
Groete

(Fox)Hunting scene. Believe it to be German; Streich zu, nu brennt et or Strike now it burns
Extra compartment for extra matches. The matches had a specific length. Or for stamps or for a little snuff. You like to keep your matches, stamps and snuff at a dry place.
