5 pointed star monogram

Postby hpidaves » Sat Sep 12, 2020 2:44 pm

I have a silverplate pie server with a 5 pointed star monogram. Upon close inspection, I see small line engravings inside each point of the star. I though at first it could be a Freemason or Mason star, but the line engravings made me wonder. Not sure on the pattern of the piece.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

Orientation of the symbol suggests possible variant (chapter/??) for "Order of the Eastern Star" Masonic related. Might have to search a bit for this particular set.

hpidaves...when you encounter an odd symbol like this, it is difficult to know where to begin a search. Here is an idea...bear in mind "the eyes of the world are upon you". What eyes? Those of the dragon/griffon which sits above the temple gate marker at Fleet Street in London, a thoroughfare through which the course of the British Empire and links to the entire history of the world must flow. Begin a wiki search at this road and you will find an ever growing series of connections to every subject and location both forward and backward in time. In a few steps you get to Knights Templar and then on to Masonic Orders. Once you find your direction, you can conduct more targeted keyword searches beyond wiki entries. There's no limit to where it can lead, but watch out for that demon barber Benjamin Barker, else he may cut you off before you can have coffee with Dickens while researching one of the many newspaper sources printed nearby. Try it, you'll like it.
