Yes, not easy to resolve this. A lozenge shaped mark with ALFE NIDE gives date pre-1862. But the shape of maker mark should be oval. In my photo has definitely a lozegne shape.
There is also a sentence
"Attention! Sometimes on the early pieces the third mark is absent (e.g., on pieces issued in 1847 or 1850)" under pictures Fig.9.
