Koch und Bergfeld Norddeutscher Lloyd Knife

Hello,
I found out some things regarding this knife, which I believe is silverplate. It is stamped "NORDDEUTSCHER LLOYD BREMEN" in a circle on the front side, which I believe shows that it was used on that company's ship line. The back shows the mark of Koch und Bergfeld a script "K & B". then a shield with what I believe is "Brema" and an anchor, and finally "27 1/2".
I do have a couple of questions though. What does the "27 1/2" refer to (plating quality?), and does the maker's mark give a clue as to age?
Regards,
Dave
