I found what appears to be an old bowl in a thrift store. The three castle towers seem to indicate it came from Edinburgh. Not sure about the following three characters. Could it be EP (electro-plate) then the maker? Thank you for any help you can provide.

I thought I had on a second response. Somehow that response disappeared. I'll try again.

I think this bowl is electroplated based on what appears to be an EP after the castle

Hi

You haven't given the dimensions, but it looks like a wine bottle coaster with the wooden base missing.

I realize the EP is electroplated but what does the last symbol stand for?

I think it's a stylised M as in Electro Plated Metal.

I have been researching this same mark on pieces handed down through many many generations (most of which stolen during a break in Phoenix in the early 80’s) The only recovered at the time 3 salt cellars with the same mark given to us by my mother in law.
