Having got my head around the resizing of photos, I am asking whether any kind soul can identify the marks on this jug. According to family this is of Irish origin, but that may not be true.
What are these marks on poss Irish jug?
Re: What are these marks on poss Irish jug?
Hi,
Well done with the images.
Not Irish, but from Sheffield, Martin, Hall & Co.
See: https://www.925-1000.com/silverplate_M.html
The Gothic letters appear to be EPGS - Electro Plated German Silver, a term that fell out of fashion, for marketing reasons, following the advent of the Great War, so the jug can be dated to pre-1914.
Can you post a close-up of the engraving? I ask because most items marked 'Hard Soldered' were destined for commercial use.

Trev,
Many thanks for that. Interesting on the date. Here are the inscriptions - one either side. The crest of the bent arm with arrow I have seen somewhere during my family history research, but I cannot think exactly where!
