The ROCKAWAY BEACH HOTEL was the biggest baboon on the block. It was supposedly put out of it's misery after only one season, and the furnishing all sold off. Here it shows that Wilcox Silver Plate Company prepared shipment to cover the opening of 100 tables in 1881: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=36151&p=134769&hil ... ay#p134769

Wilcox Quadruple-Arcadia & Rockaway Clues?
Re: Wilcox Quadruple-Arcadia & Rockaway Clues?
Two stronger possibles if Rockaway is only a pattern name. Arcadia Hotel Santa Monica CA from 1884-1906. Involves Pacific Improvement Company (the railroad people). Arcadia Cafe (seats 350+; w/ "Grey Room" & "Old English Room") Philadelphia PA c.1913 (Delaware Corp.), c.1915 opens, 1930 extant, closure unknown. Director Fritz Pflug. However, it is suggested elsewhere that this mark style is c.1880-98, and "Quadruple Plate" words not beyond 1912.
Re: Wilcox Quadruple-Arcadia & Rockaway Clues?
Forgot to mention...dual ring type mark does not have Meriden, Conn. along bottom in this case. Right hammer has the large, defined head with handle connected dead center...seems to be a number of mark variants fir those tools.
Interesting 1895 notes on powering the plating plant independently of the main plant power (to keep the baths running overnight?): viewtopic.php?f=38&t=36151&p=156573&hil ... ne#p156573

Re: Wilcox Quadruple-Arcadia & Rockaway Clues?
Have been able to determine that these exact handles appear on a different Wilcox piece with a patent date for 1880. The maker backstamp is the same kind. This would seem to confirm the most likely era..1880's to '90's.
