Silver Coffee/Tea Set - Unknown Marks - European??

Postby cdhusske » Tue Sep 19, 2006 9:52 pm

I need your help with identifying these marks on the bottom of this Coffee/Tea Set. Each piece is marked the same, including the tray. Although the Lion Passant looks familiar, I'm sure about the other marks. Can you help me? Thanks

That's a silverplate mark used by the Barbour Silver Company, Hartford, Connecticut. Founded in 1892. Merged with other companies in 1898 to form the International Silver Company. International continued to use this mark into the 1920's.

BSCEP stands for Barbour Silver Company ElectroPlated. The N.S. refers to the base metal under the silverplate, Nickel Silver.
