This candle snuffer has been gifted to our charity and I am really keen to know its origins. It looks as if it is silver-plated and the hall marks give A M & Co. I would appreciate any help I can get on this item.

This is only my opinion, but your mark looks like an English silverplate mark to me.
Could not find an AM&Co mark in my references. I'm not really sure the first mark is an A. If not, M&Co was a silverplate mark used by R.F. Mosely & Company c.1900. I have only a description of their mark, have not seen it, so I can't be sure it's the same as your mark.
Wish I could have helped more.

The first mark may be a stylized bird head, perhaps it is M & Co.?

Thanks for your help

Many thanks for your help Pat and Tom. I will follow up on your suggestion of M & Co. I mistakenly thought the first character was an A and not a hallmark - I'm sure you are right.

Tom, I will insure my images are the right size next time.
