I'm sorry I don't have an image, but I hope one isn't needed here.
There's a fork online being called WMF that is stamped:
GEISLINGEN 90 DRP 76975
and I see in the "Silverplate Marks" section of this site that "GEISLINGEN 90" is a WMF mark. Would this mark indicate the piece was produced by Straub's company before it became WMF in 1880? The pattern is an old, traditional one: your classic "spaten" [flat, unadorned fiddle w/pronounced wings and long rounded tines], so it could be pre-1880.
My understanding is that WMF wasn't the only silverplate manufacturer in Geislingen, so is this necessarily a WMF mark?
