Hello, I am confused about this quality stamping on a piece of Christolfe pie /cake server. It is pictured on the Christolfe Sterling page, at the lower right hand within a box stating that it is waiting further information. Can someone please clarify this for me?

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

That's a silver-plate mark used By Christofle. It was not used on silver items, which would also bear official French hallmarks.

Please remember to keep your images to within the 7" (18cm) width limits.

Hi Gemman 10!

In order to illustrate what Trev told you, find bellow pictures of a bread/sweet bun knife and his hallmarks:

Bellow the french Minerva for sterling silver in 925-1000eme or 950/1000eme

Bellow silversmith hallmark:the left one in a diamond for silversmith (in our case Orfèvre Cristofle; you will find always intials in a diamond for sterling silver, of course only if accompagnated with the franch Minerva as said before); the right one indicates the "designer" (in our case Cardheilac; this kind of mark is only find on huge companies silver items with different designers working for)

Of helping!
