help with identifying spoons

Postby Reed B. » Sat May 28, 2016 3:09 am

Friends.. i am trying to help a friend who found a set of six spoons after her mother passed.. i honestly don't know what direction to go in, so any and all help would be appreciated.. as the photos will show, it is a set of spoons that seem to be silver with a gold plating or overlay on them. they are fairly soft and show no change to the surface if bent a slight amount. the lettering on the back side looks similar to Cyrillic, but is not fully consistent with it.. the 'mark' to the left of the lettering is quite simple and seems, again from my limited searching, to be perhaps a 'city mark' rather than a makers mark..i am hoping that the photos will register with someone much better than any description i could attempt to give further.. i tried the link and got 'caught' and cannot make it work... i hope that postimage site codes contain what is needed to see the photos....the spoons are approximately six inches in length... again, thank you for any help with this.. forums are a great source of information and a means by which we all can gain and share our knowledge..

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

The below should help you:

How to Add Images

Posting Requirements

and: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=42199

http://www.postimg.com is recommended. Embedded images get a far greater response than just posting links.

Remember to use the 'Preview' button before submitting your post.

Hi Reed B,

I've removed the URL code leaving just the img and end img for each line, and your photos are now showing and embedded.

Might I suggest a closer image of the marks so we with older eyes are able to clearly see them?

Cheers,
Steve

'dognose'... thanks for the replies.. i tried to use and was able to upload the photos to their site. however, when i go to log in and give my information, i press the submit button and nothing happens..... hence my other choice in the use of ' post image'..... my email in the log in for is highlighted, however i only have one email address, and it is correctly entered...

'Steve'..... when i did a preview of what i was going to post, i could see the markings quite clearly.. i admit i am looking at them on a 24" monitor for my pc.. ..the first three letters are Cyrillic , MHU(with the crazy tail on the U), and the last four letters are 'CCCP'.. in looking up the alphabet used it seems the CCCP is for the USSR as i did remember, and the MHU seems to refer to being made in a collective possibly ..with the U or 'tseh' being indicative of the same....

all.... i did the preview and could see my images well on this monitor.. i recognize that may not be the case using a phone or smaller screen.. i was concerned in showing the photos in too large a size as was warned against...i just tried and i still cannot 'get in'.... i thank you all and will attempt to see what i can do to make the photos more legible... thank you again...

Hi,

No problem. The process of posting embedded images is usually a learning curse, but once mastered, a walk in the park.
