Half pint

Postby JanGroen » Thu Apr 21, 2016 6:36 am

Good afternoon
This silver plated half pint cup are marked with crossing axes and WW beneath. On the side it has a crown wit a G and R next to it with numbers (time of king George ?) . Is this the stamp of approval by the King that it takes half a pint? What does the other letters and numbers stands for and where in England is it from?

Thank you
Jannie

Hi Jannie,

That is the mark of Robert Pringle & Sons, WW denotes their factory, the Wilderness Works.

See: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=30091&p=105452&hilit=pringle#p105452

And yes, that is the confirmed capacity mark issued by the old London County Council.

Trev.
