I have a set of 72 pieces that belonged to my grandmother. but searching online I cannot fully place it in time, exact material. I would highly appreciate any help.

That particular mark by Dixon was used c1890

Thanks a lot for replying. I read that this symbol started being used in 1890. Is there any way, maybe from the pattern to identify a more specific date? What does the A in front means? Are all plating techniques the same?

The pattern, known as Georgian (B), or Queen Anne pattern, was a popular one from the 1880's to the 1930's and produced by several manufacturers, see:

However, if the knife blades on your set are stainless, then a date of c.1920 onwards would be the case with your set.

The 'A' is a quality indicator mark.
