Please help with this Coffee Urn

Postby martif » Thu Jul 27, 2006 8:32 pm

Hi,
This Coffe pot/urn has been in my family for years but I cannot find out who manufactured it. I have taken a picture of both the pot and the hallmark. The hallmark appears to be a 'C' - "Bros" - 'S' all in a gothic or caligraphy style and there is an 'EP' next to it which I believe stands for elctroplated. Can anyone help me identify the manufacturer? Thanks, Mario

That is a silverplate mark used by Cooper Brothers, Sheffield, England.

Is this a coffee urn or would there be another more correct name for it? I have just been using coffee urn or pot.

Also, I was told that the handle is teek wood as well as the small knob that opens the lid and that the design resembles about an 1860 piece. Does anyone have any information as to what year this piece may have been manufactured?

One last question, what does the words "Warranted" and "Hard Soldered" mean which are under the hallmark?

Thanks so much for your time.
Mario
