Vintage German Silver Chain Mesh Purse..

My dad found this in a box of stuff... I am curious as to the hallmark; a crown with the letter P inside it. It "smells" like silver.. Any ideas as to how old this might be? Thanks....

German Silver is a non precious alloy and contains no silver. See:

Not a hallmark but a maker's mark, perhaps for Pairpoint Mf.Co.
