I have this set but can not identify the marks. So I have no idea about the date, era, makers...etc.
Help and cmments are appreciated.

I can't help with an ID but this is almost certainly a Sheffield company. Rotated 90 degrees clockwise the mark seems to read "G E <symbol> S". For marks of that form we normally assume that the S stands for Sheffield.

When I posted it was in the Silver, London section but it appears to move around. Very clever those platers !

My apologies if my comment was a little brusque. I see that this query was indeed originally posted in the Silver, London section and there is still a link there but our admins moved the query into the silverplate section (where I first saw it) before there were any replies. I did not see that it had been moved (in fact I don't think you can tell) so didn't comment on the EP in my response. Perhaps when our admins move posts like that they could add a comment such as "moved because it's plated not solid".

My bookmark into the forum only picks out unread posts (search.php?search_id=unreadposts). This picks out all new posts and responses but it doesn't show which was the original posting section. Having clicked on the ones I think might be interesting I then go to the main forum index and "mark forums read" so that next time I look I only get new posts and responses.

When a topic is moved it is indicated on the original placement by an arrow in the top left-hand corner of the square that is immediately below the word 'Topics'.

Topics are moved for a few different reasons, and not just because the correct one is immediately obvious. If say an item is thought to be silver, but has no clear indication of identification (known hallmarks, marked Sterling, 925, etc.), then it may well be moved to the plated forums even if the item is suspected of being solid, as the plated forums receive the most traffic and this exposure gives the topic a better chance of finding information about it. Some topics, of course, need to be moved several times before we find what we think is the best home for it.

As for the item in question, a possible candidate may be George Ellis of Sheffield:

Offer only as a possibility, they were in business from at least 1902.

Two things learned at once. Thank God Trev was forgiving as the rules I read allow administrators to simply delete any plate queries "deposited" into the hard metals sections. No ifs, ands, or buts. Danke!
