If this is the wrong forum or area for this question please forgive this new member. Looking to see if anyone is familiar with a silver company called Luilla or maybe Luills. Name stamped on a sterling trimmed coconut bowl. Can't find any info anywhere. Many thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

Hi, welcome back.

To me it appears to be silver plated. Is it marked sterling? Luella is a silver shop located in Mexico City see:

It's very feint, but I think I see '925' here:

There's quite a few Luella pieces with the same trademark as here that are marked made in Mexico. I did come across one image of the trademark that clearly looks like the name is Luilla with the "I" dotted, but it is repeatedly called Luella in other listings.

Thanks Silverly and Dognose. It is sterling and that looks like a match. Thank you for taking the time to help. Greatly appreciated.

Just to add to the record, another Luella 0.925 sample of a modernist jigger with brass knuckle style handle:

This could be mis-read as Luilla or even Sevilla. Included is an "Eagle 1" mark for Mexico City (probably the later Type 2 shadow version but hard to tell). Other forms if the mark may include "Plata Sterling" above the name and "Hecho en Mexico" below. In that case, the Eagle mark may or may not be present alongside.

Now..if anyone has more info. on this shop or artist, please drop it here. Thanks!
