Christofle Mark Reversed

Postby pasdenner » Mon Sep 21, 2015 2:35 pm

(admin edit - see Posting Requirements )

It's a fish fork with a "C C" mark in which the mark was reversed somehow (don't know how since I thought the mark was like a hammer that get beat into the silver so how would that be reversed ? )

This is the apparently erroneous mark, the scale 'hangs' to the outside of the fork

This is the apparently correct mark (judging by the fact that there are more of them), the scale 'hangs' to the inside of the fork

Appreciate any insight

Call me crazy but the "correct" fork was facing right as in photo when they struck the mark, and your "non-correct" one was facing left in opposition to its orientation in your photo. Turn the fork left and it will hang the same direction but in a different location. Seems to be the workman's choice--maybe a southpaw! Can't weigh in on authenticity here, but sure someone will soon.
