I think I've sorted that it is from Sheffield England by Elkington. I think it is from before 1898 (though I'd be very surprised as this cleaned up really nicely and doesn't look that old). Apparently in "1898 the "crown" was deleted when the Parliament forbade its use on silverplate wares to prevent abuses and misunderstandings with the "crown" symbol of the Sheffield Assay Office (reserved to hallmarking sterling silver items)." I'm needing help figuring out the year this is from. There is an M on it but the hallmark doesn't look like the pictures of other Elkington hallmarks to me. Any help would be much appreciated as I'm interested to find out more or if I'm completely off base on this. Thanks so much!
