HELP NEEDED TO IDENTIFY MARKING ON SPOON...

We have tried our hardest to identify if this is silver or silver plated and not been able to find any information on this spoon. Any help would be so helpful...I will try to load some pictures...We think it is Art Nouveau?

The marking on the back of the spoon is; 'STE', followed by a star symbol, then the letter 'S'...

I dont think that it is silver. I have a friend who calls these marks "I whish I were silver" due to the fact that they are placed in order to make this object look like silver without breaking any law by saying "this is silver"
