Unidentified Mark on Large Jewelry Box

Postby garybnyc » Sun Feb 22, 2015 7:03 pm

Dear Forum-
Can anyone help to identify the below marks. They are slightly worn but hopefully clear enough for someone to assist. Thank you kindly.

Good Day,

Very interesting set of marks that on the surface seem to be Psudo marks. The first mark on the left appears to be a Gothic letter P laying on it's back but it's actually the forth mark on the right that intrigues me the most. Believe that we need a clear close up shot of all four but is it possible that it's a Baltimore assay mark?

I hope this helps

Thank you so much for the information, Warren. It appears like the fourth mark is an upper-case D on its side?
What makes you believe it to be of Baltimore origin?

I've tried to present more detailed shots of the marks below. Thank you so very much for your time.

Hello Gary,

A Gothic letter D on it's back was not what I was looking for.

Just reviewing a few examples on sterlingsilverflatwarefashions.com/Msc/BaltimoreAssayMks.html shows an oval or rectangular coat of arms with cut corners. You can also see that the order is different, without the use of Gothic letters. Profiles also appear to be right facing women. Attempted to also use PD as a possible markers mark clue without success.

Afraid I've just led you astray, let's see if anyone else has any ideas.

Warren

I appreciate your time, Warren. It is an odd set of marks indeed.
Thanks.
