PLEASE HELP ID Silver Marks, Lions Head S& P

Postby dolcekids » Tue Jun 13, 2006 11:31 am

I have a pair of footed salt and pepper shakers and two small matching footed bowls. The top of each leg has a lions head. The only mark looks like the letter "M". Thanks for you help!

Your mark looks like one used by the Ellis-Barker Silver Companies of Birmingham, England. It was used on silverplated holloware starting around 1912. They opened an American branch in New York in 1897. In Europe they are known as Barker-Ellis.

I think what you have is a pair apiece of salt cellar & pepper shaker.
