Bun Warmer

Postby Kasi » Mon May 29, 2006 7:23 pm

I think this is a bun warmer, but I"m not totally sure. I was told on the antique board at eBay that this was sheffield silverplate, but I would really like a second opinion as to what this really is and if possible a date? The bottom pic is what it looks like and the first pic is the mark
Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Since this is my first time posting, please tell me if I did it wrong or right.

Thanks
Kasi

Sheffield Silver Company, Brooklyn, New York. They used this mark from 1908 to 1950 according to Rainwater's. True Sheffield Plate was produced by fusing, with intense heat, a thin sheet of silver to one or both sides of a thick sheet of copper, often called Old Sheffield Plate. Your piece is electroplated over nickel silver, hence the letters EPNS above the other mark.

Not a bun warmer, centerpiece bowl with frog for flower arranging.
