Engraved Silver Plated Chalice - W. & E. S. Co. Mark

Postby sberlinger » Tue May 27, 2014 2:29 pm

To whom it may concern:

I am new to this website, but not new to metalware. This particular chalice has an odd mark, which I have not run across before. Additionally, I have scoured this website hunting for information on possible leads but to no avail. I am fairly comfortable that this is and American piece. However, there is a possibility that it may have come from Germany. Highly possible that the manufacturer specialized in lutheran/protestant church goods. The chalice is also individually numbered.

Anybody got some thought on this piece?

Hi Stephen,

Try W. & E. Schmidt Co., there appear to be other silver-plate items on the Internet including at replacements.com

Thank you Warren. I think you are right on the money. I found some other items nearby this chalice that lead confirm your suspicions. Thank you for your efforts.

Well done Trev,

Was not able to ascertain where Schmidt was based or a possible timeline.

Bravo
Warren
