Pill box with #2 stamped inside

I have a pill box with no other hallmarks except a 2 stamped on the inside lid. The box seems to be a gold wash/plate too. Just wondering what the 2 means and if want type of silver this is. THANKS :)

I found your posting by accident. There is no way of knowing what the 2 stands for. I don't think your box is plated. It would be unusual for a plated box to be constructed like yours, and enameling is not cheap, nor does yours look cheaply done. Please get a loupe and look around the outside edge of the top, the part that fits into the bottom. Look there for a mark, perhaps rubbed and very small.

Thank you. I have looked at every square inch of this with a good magnifying glass and still haven't found any other hallmarks :(

I would have it tested, I still think it is solid silver.
