WHAT IS THIS??? HELP PLEASE!! Silver? Vermeil? Fake?

Postby RJHH » Fri Apr 14, 2006 9:50 pm

Ok I finally found a site that might be able to help...this one :) I got a set of flatware when I moved out that belong to my step mom. (admin edit) I know NOTHING about flatware or silver and figured that the serious collectors would know. Please help me if you can. It's from the late 60's or 70's. Thanks for all the help!

Well, to be blunt, your picture with the marks is useless, but it looks like ordinary die-stamped junk from Asia. A small effort at homework before listing would have been in order.

Yes that was a little blunt Wev. RJHH Could you please take a closer picture of the mark and the pattern at the tail of the spoon and either post on here. I will try to assess it further.
Best wishes, Mike.

Your set looks similar to mid-20th century Indian pieces I've run across, also marked "SILVER". They were not of particularly fine quality and wouldn't hazard a guess as to the actual silver content.
