silver child's cup?

Postby pamh35 » Sun Sep 01, 2013 10:05 pm

Hi All,
Thank you for being here. We are in the process of cleaning out my dad's condo and came across what looks to be a silver child's mug. No history to this and I don't remember it from my childhood. My mom liked to collect a lot of different things but this also could have come from either set of grandparents. I can't find anything similar on the web and can't get any hits on the marks on the bottom. Hoping someone here will recognize it or at least point me in another direction. as you can see from the pictures it is very ornate. There are 2 very faint numbers below what I assume is the stamp. They look like: 9-0
Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

Hi Pam welcome to the forum,

Your images are far too small and clicking on the image, to enlarge, a password seems to be required. Please provide us with some clear images.Thanks.

I couldn't figure out how to edit my post so I could replace the thumbnails with larger images so I made all the pics viewable to the public on Flickr. Please let me know if this doesn't do the trick.
thanks!

Hi Pam,

Welcome to the Forum.

Thanks for fixing your images.

I can't say I've noted that particular mark before, but I would be 95% confident that it would be one of the marks used by the Queen City Silver Co. of Cincinnati.

Hi Trev,
Thank you so much for the find. While it does look like the letters in the squares, the fact that there are no "icons" above the squares had me worried. Fake maybe? I'll do some more research on Queen City and let you all know what I find.
Thanks-great start!!!

I have no idea about this, but was curious as to what story is playing out? I found it hard to make out the details, but it might have been a story piece? Very odd. It is cute, I've never seen anything like it before.
