Postby mmdogg01 » Tue Jun 14, 2005 2:21 am

Here is a piece i picked up recently. it is i'm guessing silverplate. and has King _______ silverplate written on it. ( the name is worn) it then says national silver company on it. any help in identifying it would be very much appreciated.

The piece you are showing is a bread tray and the name "King" was the beginning of the pattern name the National Silver Co. had in 1951 called "King Edward". You are correct regarding the tray is silver plated. The National Siver Co. started out before 1904 in New York. They started gathering companies up like the the Monarch Silver and Viceroy Silver Companies added in 1943 to use for their silver plated flatware. The "F.B.Rogers Co." in 1955, Ontario Manufacturing in 1956 were more "notches in the belt" so to speak.
