German Shot glass? Alcohol Nip?

Post by Baccus »

I found this today and was hoping somebody might have seen its mark before. I am pretty sure the main cup is pewter. To me the mark looks like an Angel with a crown of justice with a sword in one hand and a set of scales in the other with the letter E S at its feet

The pictures on the sides around the cup are these

I hope somebody can shed some light on this little object/
Thanks for looking

Hi,

That is indeed a pewter mark.

The maker was Eduard Scholl of Gnadental, Germany.

Just another question, would you say this is an old design/ shape? I have found a few similar type shot glasses/ cups but none of them have this type of shape.

I'm afraid I know next to nothing about pewter designs. Hopefully someone else has some knowledge.
