Webster Wilcox - Silver or Silverplate?

Postby kevalie » Sat Dec 22, 2012 7:23 am

Hi all, purchased a plate recently and the only mark is on the back 'Webster Wilcox International Silver Co and weight around 1.3 kg. Was told it's made of solid sterling silver but I have my doubt, as items are usually mark 'Sterling Silver' or '925', but in this case it doesn't have a mark indicating whether it's sterling silver or silverplate. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

It will be silverplate. Believe that mark was in use from 1961 until they were acquired by Oneida in 1981.
