Not sure if this is a family crest or silver hallmark?

Postby AndrewHerrell » Thu Oct 04, 2012 11:30 pm

The image is a crest and inside the crest is two lions rampage facing each other and a tree between the lions. And a crown is above the crest. There is a C on the right side of the crest and a S on the left side. And help please.

This is on a silver plate, and it's on the bottom of the plate. Please any help, i wanted to know if someone can give me any information. Not sure if its a Family crest or a Silver Hallmark?

It looks like a Crest with two lion rampage facing each other with a tree in between the two lions, and above the crest is a crown, and a C on the lefts side of the crest and a S on the right side of the crest!

Thank you,

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Not sure if its a Family crest or a Silver Hallmark?

It's neither I'm afraid. It is the mark of an, to my knowledge, as yet unidentified silver plater. The maker is likely to be of American origin.

Almost certainly American silverplate, most likely mid-20th century - have seen that mark attributed to Continental Silver of Brooklyn, NY, not sure if it's correct, but they would seem a likely suspect.
