Art Krupp Berndorf Item: Is it a Spoon? Does it Have silver?

Postby SuzyWoozy » Sat Jul 14, 2012 7:00 am

Hi,

Please help me identify the nature of this Art Krupp Berndorf item and it's material composition. I'm pretty sure it's Alpaca Silver, but not sure exactly what that means. I did research online which seems to suggest that alpaca silver doesn't have any real silver in it at all. But is a composite of different metals. Does anyone know what this item is made of, if it is indeed alpaca silver? Does it contain any silver at all?

Also, is this item a Tea Spoon? A jam spoon? Or is it even a spoon? It has an unusual shape I am not familiar with? It might be a utensil used to flatten or spread? Or a type of knife. Not familiar with the shape of this utensil.

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

You don't mention the size but I suspect the purpose would be for jams etc. The handle shape is very typical of Austrian flatware.

Here is an explanation for the term 'Alpaca': http://www.925-1000.com/silverglossary.html
