Unknown plated object and other questions

Postby Michal » Tue Feb 28, 2012 12:22 pm

Hello all,

I've found a silver-plated item and would like to know a few things about it.

From looking through this site I know that EPC stands for electroplated copper, but I haven't found any information about the number 94 stamped on the bottom. Also, I'm not sure what the object itself is. I've tried looking through pictures, but haven't found anything similar. Being new to this, I don't really know where to start when looking at silver or silver-plated objects. I'm interested in learning. If someone could link me to a beginner's guide or something similar, I would really appreciate it.

Hi Michal,

Welcome to the Forum.

The Sheffield Silver Co. were founded in Brooklyn, New York, in 1908. They moved to Norton, Massachusetts, in 1974 when they became part of Reed & Barton. The marks on your dish are those used post 1950.

The '94' mark mark would refer to a pattern or batch number,
