Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Your spoon was silver plated. During the latter years of the 19th century it became a popular sales ploy by the Birmingham and Sheffield plating firms to give their products exotic sounding names. These trade names suggested that the product was made from silver produced from famous silver strikes of the time. There are dozens of names to be found, including, Bengal, Nevada, Brazilian, Sydney, Potsi, Virginian, Japanese, etc., etc.

As for who used the trade name 'Scotia Silver', I can't help, but it's fairly often seen, and hopefully someone will be aware of the maker.

Trev.
