My wife and I were given a boxed flatware set about 7 years ago after an aunt died, in emptying out the spare room we came across it and curiosity got the better of me....

I searched the makers marks within this site and "Googled" to no avail... The marks on the rear are, I believe, "FR&S" with an "A" at right angle after? Any help would be appreciated....

That is another set of silverplate marks used by John Round & Sons of Sheffield, England.

Many thanks for that.... I take it that the "A" refers to "Annealing"??

I also note that I had been trawling for "FR&S".... my Gothic alphabet identification is pretty clumsy at best

A or A1 are often stamped on silverplate wares to imply a high level of quality plating.
