I need help in dating this Roberts & Belk spoon

I have a Roberts and Belkin spoon. The attached photos show that it is silver plate but I can't find its date. The R & B logo doesn't seem to match any shown on the internet. For example, my letter 'B' doesn't match those shown. My spoon also has a patent number and again, I can't find anything similar for Roberts & Belk plated silver. So I'm looking for a date for this spoon. I would also like to know what kind of spoon it is.

Many thanks

Jam or honey spoon designed to clip on the rim of the pot so that the handle doesn't sink into its sticky contemts, but I can't help with the date.

Hello.
I believe you have an early set of Roberts & Belk silverplate marks.
On June 30, 1863 the partnership of Roberts & Briggs was dissolved.
By February 1864 Samuel Roberts had entered into a partnership with Charles Belk.
Became "Ltd." in 1901.
Sold to C.J. Vander in 1961.

Dear Pat
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my query.
The "R&B" mark on my spoon matches the Samuel Roberts & Charles Belk mark you sent me for "Sheffield 1863....." And because my spoon also has a "Patent No", which is also quite rare, I think I would be in order in dating my spoon "1865 approx." I hope you are in agreement.
Thanks once again
David

You're welcome David.
I don't know how long Roberts & Belk used the oval mark.
Seldom see it, so I think it's very early.
Pat.

I think the R&B mark in question must have remained in use, even if rare. The patent number on the spoon was issued in 1938 so the spoon must be mid 20th century. Its style is also more in accordance with that sort of date.
