Hello. I am having trouble getting photos to post. I hope you don't mind clicking through to the photos.

I picked this small piece up at a sale recently. I am intrigued by the markings; any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.

The whole piece (note the figure engraved on the right hand side:

The markings on the back:

A tighter shot of the figure engraved on the front. A griffin? I am stumped!

Fascinating marks. Are you sure it's silver? There seems to be some copper coming through on the photo with the crest.

Hi,

Is it me? But to me it does look like the leopard head is sticking out his tongue to us and the lion head pulls a long face. I love it.

Welcome to the forum.

The marks in the top two pictures below were found on the same silverplated piece.

Thanks everyone. Sorry for implying it was silver; it is most definitely plate. I am a messageboard novice, as I'm sure you have surmised.

Thanks for the images, Pat. Where did you find them? I'm glad to see another long-faced lion.
