Baby cup

Is a baby cup stamped Aurora Warranted, Est 1869, No 412, a silver plate item or a sterling one?

How can I test for sterling or plate. Is there a chemical or mechanical inspection that I can do? Norfish

Silverplate. Made by the Aurora Silver Plate Co. of Aurora, IL. Personally don't recommend acid-testing, research and familiarity with marks would be the way to go. "Warranted" was used on plated items to indicate the maker's assurance that the plating was of good quality.
