Unknown object, unknown marks. Small vase?

Postby Esrange » Mon Jul 05, 2010 3:55 pm

Re posting after the data loss.

My grandmother died a few months ago, we were going though some of her many boxes of stuff and I came across this. She had silverplate and one or two sterling items, but this one stumped me.
I've never seen this mark before, and I can't really tell what the mark is. Plus I'm not sure what this even is. My mom said it could be a bud holder?
I don't think it's silverplate, it feels kinda heavy and it looks poured, not stamped metal like our other silverplated items.
These are the best pictures I could take with my camera, I hope someone could help!

Vase for Phalaenopsis orchids — material maybe pewter alloy plated

Hello Esrange

Welcome to the forum.

Please excuse us for yours inconveniences during the system went down.

For me it seems to be a vase for a single stem of a Phalaenopsis orchid.

The mark, also your picture isn’t very informative; it’s definitely not any silver alloy mark. It could be that it is a maker’s mark for cast mass products?

The photo, but also your description don’t give any relation of material be used, and weight. Well these details, be correct done, could some times mislead also.

Kind regards silverport
.
