Holloware Salt and Pepper Hound Heads

Postby AGosse » Mon Dec 05, 2005 8:38 pm

Hello and thank you for a opportuinity to draw from your knowledge. I came into possission of these salt and pepper figures a short time ago passed down from what I believe was a few generations ago. I have since tried my very best to uncover where they came from, who made them and why so strange markings. I can see 3 markings. The first is on the back of both but very very worn, the other 2 are on the bottom. The one circled in red looks like the number 13 with what looks like a / after it so 13 / the other mark in the blue circle looks to be JIK or VIK. I have brought it to a jeweler to get a better idea, he says they are definately hand poured and finished and is almost certain they are all silver inside and out but is going to arrange a conductivity test. I have googled every mark I could find and am stumped. They weigh in at 6oz each and I have scraped away a bit on the bottom but it just continues to shine. I appricate your time and respect all opinions.
