Help on marks on a napkin ring

Dear forum,

I have been searching this site and more on the internet but could not find the marks on this napkin ring. Therefore I assume it is not silver.
Could anyone tell me more concerning these marks?

Looks like French silverplate marks to me.

Believe that at some time in their history their trademark changed with the symbol facing toward the right.

It's every time amazing me, to see products from »Orfevrerie Ercuis« - especially her maker's mark; look: viewtopic.php?t=16922&highlight=ercuis

Yes, »Ofevrerie Ercuis« has several version of maker's mark - some very expressive, as in above mentioned topic 16922 is seen.
That mark's change their appearance by time and while is "normal", if they are struck in their "lifetime" on thousands of thousand articles. And that they were replaced; maybe in a something "similar" or "modernized" appearence.

You could see this also e.g. by Bruckmann's »Eagle«; or as another example, mark of »Gebr. Kühn« = look: http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_marks_a1884_2.html

But also »Orfevrerie Ercuis« quality of plating is excellent - on products I've seen or own.

Here shown numerical' signification is, that »Orfevrerie Ercuis« warrants, that 1 gram of pure silver (999/1,000) is used - in this case per piece - in their electro plating processing.

Hart's signification I never have seen before on »Orfevrerie Ercuis« articles - I guess: Maybe it is signification for from them here used basic material (e.g. MB = Metall Blanc = Nickel silver).

In the here shown »Orfèvrerie Ercuis« struck is included a very interesting technical by-product:

»Orfèvrerie Ercuis« marks were struck once in a combined punch — but in this case the »hart« punch was before mounted; on his place in this combination with at least two screws. That’s signification is, that »Orfèvrerie Ercuis« had several different symbol’s there fore to be replaced; if another combination was necessary!

You could see this, if you observe the bottom level of this »hart« punch. On left and right hand side, near hart’s tip, are visible the screw holes, screws, and their slots; left hand side is screws slot diagonal, and on the right hand side vertical.
