I am trying to identify silver mark; appears to be a 3 headed lizard with wings. Around this lizard is: L.ALEGRE. There are also 3 small circles arranged similar to a 3 leaf clover.
I was told this may be from Rancho Alegre but I can't confirm that.

die-casted Goblet «L ALEGRE»

Hello dixcam

That’s live! Question results are often unexpected in a nasty surprise.

I guess: You don’t need to find out silver mark. Claver leaf mark seems to me is producers mark and centre mark L.ALEGRE property mark of this plated die-cast mass product for hotel industry.

Somebody has maybe “got this as an additional discount”?

Kind regards silverport

Hi,
Difficult to tell from a photo, but with that mark it strikes me as more likely to be pewter than a piece of hotel plate. You might try searching google with the Spanish words for pewter - "estaño" or "peltre".

Regards, Tom

Pewter Identification

Postby dixcam » Sun Aug 09, 2009 6:54 am

Tom, I just wanted to thank you for your information saying my piece may be pewter. This led me to The Pewter Society where a man identified the mark as a touch mark of Louis Alegre who designed from 1808-1835. I appreciate your help.

Lisa
