Tiffany nutcracker

This nutcracker is marked "Tiffany & Co" but no other marks. I am posting in this category because I believe that Tiffany only sold sterling and because I was able to find a very similar Tiffany nutcracker online (dating from 1859) which is marked 'sterling'.

My question is: Am I wrong to assume this item is sterling?
