Unknown mark on WMF knife

Postby VKSVG » Sun Dec 14, 2008 6:41 pm

Hi everybody

I found this broken knife from the WMF (Württembergische Metallwaren Fabrik) and now I want to know what the mark "LAZ." means.

Is it a mark from the owner or from the manufacturer?

I hope you can help me.
Thank you

Best regards,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Welcome to the Forum.

Your English is good and so is your post.

I don't know who 'Laz.' is, but it would be the mark of the owner of the knife. To me it looks very commercial, perhaps a hotel or restaurant maybe.

Regards Trev.

Hello, agree with Trev - former owner's initials. Check Google - most often LAZ is for Leichtathletik-Zentrum. So maybe they had a gym with canteen somewhere ... Best wishes, Bahner

Hi guys,

thank you for your answers. It is very important for us to know what "LAZ." means. Because our association found this knife in the asset of an fallen german soldier who was recovered by us in end of november in Saxonia.

I don't know if the LAZ means "Leichtathletikzentrum" but I think they was originated after war.
But all ideas are welcome!

Now I contacted the WMF possible that they can help me.
But you can also send me all your ideas to the LAZ mark.

Thank you,
best regards,
Alex
