Silver Plate Cigarette Box Markings

Postby Klyphie » Mon Oct 17, 2005 2:44 pm

This box is 5 3/4" x 3 1/4" x 1". I recently cleaned it up and took the photos below. I tried to identify the marks from the info on this site but dont' feel I got very close. Gorham seems somewhat similar but...

The left symbol is probably a snake but I'm not very sure. The center symbol is the letter "C", and the right symbol looks like a quail.

The lower markings is a stamp "3B"

Thanks for the help.

Crescent Silverware Manufacturing Co. of New York City and later Port Jervis NY. Founded 1922, sold to Kirk in 1977.

Thanks Wev. That was an incredibly quick response. Unfortunately Google has never heard of Crescent Siverware Mfg. Co. It is not a burning issue for me, but I have just heard of the Encyclopedia of American Siver Manufacturers and my library has 4 copies. So I will take a look at some time in the near future.

And thanks to whoever editted my photos.
