Does Anyone recognize these markings? Is it silver?

My husband bought this nice cruet at an auction this weekend thinking it was silver. I have searched everywhere I can think of and cannot find these marks anywhere: The single letter "K" followed by a shield with maybe a double "K" (one backwards) or maybe "X" & "M" and a pyramid with circle on top followed by an "S". On the other side are the numbers "83629".

Well, the windmill at top seems to be missing the vanes. As for the mark, it appears to be a shield divided per chevron with three identical elements, perhaps x's.

Thank you for your input, Salmoned, it is appreciated. Looking at this very carefully we do not see where the vanes could have been, nothing seems to be broken off but it would have been a great detail.

They may be identical "X's", sometimes it is really hard to make out these markings. That is one of the things I was looking for when I was looking at markings but could find nothing like this.

Almost certainly American silverplate from right around the 1920s, and would have had, as salmoned suggested, vanes that spun on a pin. Have seen this mark on several Dutch Revival type pieces like this and have always suspected that it might be an undocumented Knickerbocker Silver Co. mark.

Thank you, Cheryl, now that you say "spun on a pin" I am seeing at top of either side is a place where pins could have been set (they are indents, not all the way through). At first we just thought it was part of the building decor. I appreciate the information and will try and research from your ideas that you have suggested.
