Bizarre Sterling Vermeil Cuff Bracelet 'Q' Mark

Post by DannDee »

Hi,

I have a mystery jewelry piece that I would love to have some help with. I bought this cuff seeing that there was some greenish-bluish-rainbowish tarnish coming through the gold and instantly thought it was gold plate/vermeil over sterling silver but there were no hallmarks or any indication of metal. There was only ONE mark 'Q' on the interior. It is a very heavy bracelet, I scratch/acid tested it and it's definitely sterling silver heavy (and smell if you know what that smells like). Can anyone give some information on the mark? Also what design/period would you call this? The best I could describe it as would be some 'modernist' or even 'brutalist' design but its really not either, very geometric. but its definitely newer, just super bizarre its not hallmarked at all with this much silver & work. Has anyone see this before? I mean, being so heavy in silver without any markings at all? What country would allow this to even be sold? Pics below.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I appreciate all the help.
